Resistance-Driven Parametrics
This project applies a parametric system to reinterpret Chanel’s iconic quilting pattern through the interplay of gravity and resistance- two physical parameters that generate continuous yet heterogeneous deformation. In this design logic, form emerges not from predetermined patterns but from the dynamic behavior of interacting forces. By assigning variable parameters that simulate external pressure and material resistance, the form unfolds as a gradual transformation between compression and equilibrium. The resulting hexahedral modules, derived through computational simulation, embody the dynamic tension and subtle deformation characteristic of the quilting surface, transforming the material into an active medium that reveals the invisible forces acting upon it.
