Connected Branches
As an attempt to depart from conventional craft methodologies, I collaborated with pottery artists to challenge traditional practices. Drawing inspiration from the form of Christmas trees, the design translated their branching structure into a modular system, employing the L2 technique to simplify angular relationships. Departing from standard pottery approaches, the branches were engraved onto flat ceramic clay plates using a laser and subsequently subjected to high-temperature kiln firing exceeding 1300°C to ensure structural durability. Upon cooling, the modular components were reassembled to produce ten distinct tree silhouettes, each deviating from conventional arboreal forms, thus redefining spatial and material possibilities in ceramic practice.
